The trail connects some of the over 250 mine shafts of the area, counted by Bernardino Lotti at the end of the XIX century.
In the Middle Age, the Independent City of Massa Marittima used to extract silver from this area in order to mint money. During the XIX century these medieval mine shafts were used again as access routes and ventilation galleries for the new mines.
The path is equipped with informative panels and resting areas.
