It is at about 3km south of Massa Marittima, following directions to Accesa Lake.
It is a typical mining village, developed during the first half of the XIX century for mining purposes.
In the surrounding area it is still possible to see some rests of mining activities, such as pit head frames and waste material deposits.
Some of these pits are still open and have been secured, but most of them have collapsed or are now clogged up. Among them, it is still possible to see some medieval pits. Around them, lots of iron, copper and pyrite slags can be found.
